Live 8, "the greatest concert" ever aired live, has been presented to World public opinion as an "awareness campaign" in solidarity with Africa. Its stated objective was to put pressure on the Group of Eight leaders (G8) to increase foreign aid flows and cancel the debt of the World's poorest countries.

In the words of its promoter Bob Geldof, Live 8 has provided a "unique opportunity" to save a continent from a humanitarian disaster.

The Bush Administration's Psy-Ops on the US Public

Sam Gardiner has taught strategy and military operations at the National War College, Air War College and Naval War College. He was recently a visiting scholar at the Swedish Defence College. During Gulf II he was a regular on the NewsHour with Jim Lehrer as well as on BBC radio and television, and National Public Radio. He authored "The Enemy is Us" an article describing how the Bush Administration used disinformation and psychological warfare ­ weapons usually used against the 'enemy' ­ against the American public in order to support the war in Iraq. He has done an extensive analysis of the media coverage before the war, during the war and during the occupation as well as of the statements of Administration officials. His conclusions are startling and of great concern. He has put his findings in a report entitled: "Truth from These Podia."

As we go out to celebrate our freedom this 4th of July, let's go over a few things to make your celebration a success.

Before leaving home make sure you check the color coded Homeland Security alert status. Be especially careful if it is orange or red. Don't worry about yellow. It's always yellow.

Don't use any illegal fireworks in your 4th Celebration. It is for your own safety. And the founding father's implemented a government to protect you from yourselves. Didn't they? Besides, fireworks are explosive devices and you might be considered a terrorist with weapons of mass destruction. And although the government can't find any in Iraq, you can rest assured they will find them in your car trunk. But don't worry, getting arrested, imprisoned indefinitely without formal charges, and a 5 year wait before the secret tribunal trial per the Patriot Act is a breeze. It's that secret summary execution that should make you nervous.

Make sure you are buckled up in your seat belts, there will be roadblocks and checkpoints to make sure you comply. It is for the children.

If you are an airline employee, lighten up for the holiday, you can always look for a job tomorrow. Maybe you could transfer over to a Federal Airport Security Screener job. Big demand for those jobs and you don't have to be smart.

If you are a Halliburton employee, then celebrate, you probably have a raise coming from the Iraqi contract windfall.

If celebrating on any public property, make no mention of religious ideals. Government is god there. You will be aprehended.

Have your papers ready as you approach the holiday police checkpoints.

Don't criticize the President, or other government officials, you might be in violation of the Patriot Act and considered a possible terrorist.

Don't mention the Constitution in any district court, or you could be held in contempt.

If your children get out of line this holiday, do not discipline them, or they may be kidnapped by the Dept. of Social Services and held hostage until you receive approved psychological therapy and are deemed acceptable.

Show compassion this Independence Day by bringing an illegal immigrant to your celebration, or by hugging a tree.

The CIA has been involved in developing sophisticated mind control programs since the early 1950s. MKULTRA is the most infamous of these, yet thanks to a virtual media blackout on the subject, very few people are aware of any of these disturbing programs. In a rare recent article in the Washington Post (see below), a few of the many disturbing aspects of MKULTRA are discussed. The article is an obituary for John K. Vance, a member of the CIA inspector general's staff in the early 1960s who discovered that the CIA was secretly conducting illegal mind control activities in MKULTRA.

Thanks to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), government documents dealing with MKULTRA and other secret mind control programs are now available to the public. In 1973, tipped off about forthcoming congressional investigations, CIA Director Richard Helms ordered the destruction of all MKULTRA records. Fortunately, 20,000 pages <http://www.wanttoknow.info/mindcontrol10pg#ciadocs  worth of MKULTRA documents contained in the CIA's financial records were overlooked. Though only a small fraction of the original documentation, these surviving documents reveal highly disturbing operations in which unknowing citizens were subjected not only to LSD, but also to radiation, lethal biological agents, and even torture for reasons of "national security."

Before reading the Washington Post article below, here are a few sentences from an FOIA document written by the Inspector General of the CIA about MKULTRA . To read the original document online, click here .

"The concepts involved in manipulating behavior are found by many people both within and outside the Agency [CIA] to be distasteful and unethical. Nevertheless, there have been major accomplishments both in research and operational employment. Many additional avenues to the control of human behavior have been designated under the MKULTRA charter, including radiation, electro-shock, and harassment substances. Some activities raise questions of legality implicit in the original charter. A final phase of the testing places the rights and interests of US citizens in jeopardy. [The MKULTRA program] has pursued a philosophy of minimum documentation in keeping with the high sensitivity of the projects. Some files contained little or no data at all. There are just two individuals who have full knowledge of the MKULTRA program, and most of that knowledge is unrecorded."

John K. Vance; Uncovered LSD Project at CIA

John K. Vance, 89, a member of the Central Intelligence Agency inspector general's staff in the early 1960s who discovered that the agency was running a research project that included administering LSD and other drugs to unwitting human subjects, died May 27 of respiratory arrest.

He died at the Wilson Health Care Center of Asbury Methodist Village in Gaithersburg.

Code-named MKULTRA (and pronounced m-k-ultra), the project Mr. Vance uncovered was the brainchild of CIA Director Allen Dulles, who was intrigued by reports of mind-control techniques allegedly conducted by Soviet, Chinese and North Korean agents on U.S. prisoners of war during the Korean War. The CIA wanted to use similar techniques on its own POWs and perhaps use LSD or other mind-bending substances on foreign leaders, including Cuba's Fidel Castro a few years after the project got underway in 1953.

Remembering The Lessons Of Germany's Past

For years, I struggled to comprehend how the good (sic*) people of Germany could allow someone such as Adolph Hitler to lead them into what became World War II. After all, before Hitler's rise to power, Germany had a rich Christian heritage. The Reformation out of the Dark Ages had its roots deeply imbedded in Germany and surrounding countries.

Does the Michael Jackson acquittal mean that pedophilia has finally obtained mainstream American acceptance? Years of corporate shilling using sexual exploitation of minors appears to have paved the way. Jackson now is the proud owner of a get-out-of-jail-free card for the rest of his life, as no authority would dare arrest him for anything. The jurors probably strictly followed their oath to acquit him (it is almost impossible to prove something 'beyond a reasonable doubt' in the absence of a confession if the accused has the money to pay for competent representation), but must have known how he would celebrate, a fact which apparently caused them no moral qualms. I don't want to sound like a 'winger with a stupid slippery slope argument, but NAMBLA (North American Man/Boy Love Association) must be very pleased.

The Pentagon awarded three contracts this past week, worth up to $300 million, to companies it hopes will inject more creativity into US psychological operations efforts to improve foreign public opinion about the United States, particularly their opinion of the American military. "We would like to be able to use cutting-edge types of media," said Col. James A. Treadwell, director of the Joint Psychological Operations Support Element. Dan Kuehl, a specialist in information warfare at the National Defense University, added: "There are a billion-plus Muslims that are undecided. How do we move them over to being more supportive of us? If we can do that, We can make progress and improve security."{1}

What provokes me to write today is your latest piece on newswithviews.  Hopefully, not to offend, but your article summarizes what readers of newswithviews already know. In the patriot community at large there is much "preaching to the choir". You've been at this a long time also. Based on your own words, I conclude you "see"; the freedom movement is NON-moving.., yet, the NWOdor elite are moving their agenda forward at political light-speed.  

I offer the following for whatever it may be worth to you.

In my opinion, you do hit the nail on the head when you say, No, we're going to fall and falter the very way they want us to, simply because we don't want interrupted our quiet little lives, with our decent homes, our expensive cars, our children we've indulged, and our pizza before us as we sit watching that big television, with the remote control in one hand and a beer in the other. Last week, a comment appeared on the World Socialist Web Site describing the phenomenon of “Reality TV.” [“Reality television” and the American reality that produces it] There is another genre of network television drama that is every bit as psychologically and socially toxic. These are broadcast television series that openly serve a right-wing political agenda. I am referring to shows like JAG, which glorifies the military, and to the ubiquitous cop shows that now regularly top the ratings on network television.

The weekly Fox network television series entitled 24 is an extreme example of this genre. Its propaganda value is revealed in story lines that promote racist stereotypes of Arab Americans and other ethnic groups. Even more politically insidious, this year’s season is replete with scenes of torture administered to various suspected terrorists or their associates by US government operatives. 24 offers such stomach-turning scenes every week. These sequences no doubt reflect, first of all, the sadistic imaginations of those producing the program. They are also designed to shock and presumably appeal to the most backward viewers—a politically perverse example of the scenes that characterize a show like Fear Factor. Moreover, this systematic presentation of torture is intended to inure the population and convey the message that this barbaric treatment is somehow acceptable in the “global war on terror.”

The only problem was that General  Douglas MacArthur had declared southern Japan off-limits, barring the  press. Over 200,000 people died in the atomic bombings of  Hiroshima and Nagasaki, but no Western journalist witnessed the aftermath  and told the story. The world's media obediently crowded onto the  USS Missouri off the coast of Japan to cover the surrender of the Japanese.  

Wilfred Burchett decided to strike out on his  own. He was determined to see for himself what this nuclear bomb  had done, to understand what this vaunted new weapon was all about. So he  boarded a train and traveled for thirty hours to the city of Hiroshima in  defiance of General MacArthur's orders.
  Burchett emerged from the train into a nightmare world.  The devastation that confronted him was unlike any he had ever seen during  the war. The city of Hiroshima, with a population of 350,000, had been  razed. Multistory buildings were reduced to charred posts. He saw people's  shadows seared into walls and sidewalks. He met people with their skin  melting off. In the hospital, he saw patients with purple skin  hemorrhages, gangrene, fever, and rapid hair loss. Burchett was among the  first to witness and describe radiation sickness.

Credible sources who were close to Gary Webb have stated that he was receiving death threats, being regularly followed, and that he was concerned about strange individuals who were seen on multiple occasions breaking into and leaving his house before his apparent 'suicide' on Friday morning.



Webb, a Pullitzer prize winning journalist, exposed CIA drug trafficking operations in a series of books and reports for the San Jose Mercury News. He was found dead on Friday morning in what the police said was an apparent suicide.
