This is a massacre, not a war in Iraq. The U.S. bombing Samarra, Fallujah, Baghdad and other cities, killing hundreds of civilians and calling them terrorists is like the massacres of the Native Americans during America's push westward.
In this case, it has to do with America's push eastward.
What is also troubling is that no major media outlet, no major politician--none are calling this what it is, an immoral, unmitigated killing of hundreds of Iraqi civilians every week.
Those who are experts in Arabic have claimed for months that the man alleged to be Zarqawi is not really Zarqawi because he does not have the real Zarqawi's Jordanian accent.
Not to mention that he was reported to have been killed two years ago in Afghanistan – JAH.
But, the American military, we are positive by now, has created this mythical Zarqawi to allow it to mercilessly attack Fallujah and punish its inhabitants because they withstood the American ground attack and chased the Americans out. Even today, the Fallujhans have said aloud to Al Jazeera and other outlets, that they will come out into the streets and fight the Americans -- but our country, America, is immoral and cowardly, every day attacking Fallujah by F16, Apache and long range cannon fire. In the process, killing hundreds of civilians, but as in the Viet Nam war, saying, "It's just collateral damage and we are not responsible for that."

Desperate for manpower with which to fight its projected 25-year “war on terrorism” in Iraq and elsewhere, the Bush administration has resorted to several measures just short of military conscription.
One of these is the “Stop Loss Program,” a scheme to force soldiers to remain in the service after their contractual obligation has been fulfilled.
Another idea is to reactivate what is called the Individual Ready Reserve (IRR). But both programs are encountering resistance from the GIs. As reported in The Army Times, about 30 percent of the IRR soldiers who have been called to active duty failed to report for mobilization.
The IRR is a manpower pool in the Ready Reserve. It consists primarily of individuals who have had training and have served previously in the “Active” component or the Selected Reserve and have some period of a military obligation remaining.
IRR soldiers are not part of a reserve unit, do not get paid and do not attend monthly reserve training. These soldiers have completed their active duty enlistment but are within eight years of when they entered the military. They can be recalled to duty if needed.
The Army's recent call-up of 5,600 soldiers from the IRR emphasizes the
demands the administration's poor planning has placed on America's most important military resource—our troops. These soldiers, who have
completed their active duty enlistment but are within eight years of when they entered the military, must now leave their jobs and families behind and mobilize for active duty. Whether there will be more call-ups is anyone's guess.
Many former soldiers, however, have submitted papers for “delay and exemption” consideration, claiming personal and professional matters are
preventing them from showing up.
CASE IN POINT
A case in point is Master Sgt. Luis Jaime Trevino, 57, who is afflicted with skin cancer, is partially deaf and suffers from high blood pressure. Uncle Sam still wants him mobilized for Operation Iraqi Freedom.
When he got his orders to report to active duty, “I was very shocked,” Trevino said. Though Trevino is willing to serve again, he wonders why the military wants him. “I'm honored to go, but I'm disabled and I'm too old,” he said. “If I do not execute these orders, I go to jail.”
Reservists up to the age of 60 are being activated, said Public Affairs Specialist Julia Collins of the Human Resources Command in St. Louis.
“I know many guys who are in that position,” she said. “It's not unusual.”
More than 1,000 IRR members submitted “delay and exemption” packets containing documentation verifying their situation. The leading reasons IRR soldiers request delays and exemptions are: medical causes or disabilities; administrative mix-ups; financial hardship; being sole caretaker for children or elderly parents and completing higher education.

This country is in jeopardy and you and your fellow journalists bear much of the blame. Dear Mr. Falk:
Despite my current address, I am old San Francisco. My family on both sides goes back to the 1850s. I know what the spirit of San Francisco used to be, and should be still. I was there in the seventies when you, yes, your very own Chronicle, exposed the CIA as being the biggest dope running organization in the world. It was, in my view, your finest hour. Because it's true, you know. I am acquainted with pilots who flew for Air America, who were flying illicit heroin into this country on behalf of the CIA. It was known in certain circles but no one had the guts to expose it, save you. What a hero newspaper! At least, back then, before you succumbed to a corporate buy-out.

IGNORE DANGER SIGNS OF THE COMING FINANCIAL CATASTROPHE AT YOUR OWN RISK
I have been telling Americans for the past 14 years what is coming, but few will listen because Americans are too afraid of the truth. They don't want to know what's just over the horizon. They want their material comforts and fun times. A recent article was published that must be read by everyone (here http://www.eldoradogold.net/pdf/September2004/debt_lochead.pdf ). Carolyn Lochhead has laid it out in frightening detail - all the numbers of what is going to happen in four short years when the baby boomers retire - 77 million of them. The numbers in Ms. Lochhead's article are accurate. There is no money in the U.S. Treasury to fund those numbers . The borrowing by Congress to fund their immoral and unconstitutional wars, UN dues, 18% of the IMFs budget, billions in corporate welfare, trillions in foreign "aid," all these social welfare programs and basic government functions continues to rack up debt at a rate of $1.69 BILLION dollars a day from an empty treasury. Quite a trick.

Air Force pursuing antimatter weapons
Program was touted publicly, then came official gag order
- Keay Davidson, Chronicle Science Writer

The U.S. Air Force is quietly spending millions of dollars investigating ways to use a radical power source -- antimatter, the eerie "mirror" of ordinary matter -- in future weapons.
The most powerful potential energy source presently thought to be available to humanity, antimatter is a term normally heard in science-fiction films and TV shows, whose heroes fly "antimatter-powered spaceships" and do battle with "antimatter guns."

The most monumental cover-up in media history may be the one I'm about to describe. In my entire experience with American journalism, I have never found anything as extreme, sustained, and omnipresent.
Three and a half years ago, when the current Palestinian uprising began, I started to look into Israel and Palestine. I had never paid much attention to this issue before and so unlike many people I knew I was completely uninformed about it. I had no idea that I was pulling a loose piece of thread that would steadily unravel, until nothing would ever be quite as it had been before.
When I listened to news reports on this issue, I noticed that I was hearing a great deal about Israelis and very little about Palestinians. I decided to go to the Internet to see what would turn up, and discovered international reports about Palestinian children being killed daily, often shot in the head, hundreds being injured, eyes being shot out. 1 And yet little of all this was appearing in NPR reports, the New York Times, or the San Francisco Chronicle.

The US and its "coalition" alleged that its moral "messianic mission" is to promote and "build" democracy and end dictatorships around the world. Nothing could be further from the truth. The US atrocities in Latin America and other parts of the world produced corrupt and violent dictatorships. America's invasion of Iraq is colonial occupation and anti-democracy. Here's the lesson that Americans should learn
as a result of the controversy over George Bush's service in the
National Guard. When governments wage futile, unnecessary wars -- such
as Vietnam and Iraq -- young Americans will try to avoid them.
The scandal isn't that so many Americans tried to avoid going to
Vietnam; it's that their government tried to send them there in the
first place. The fact that Bush is sending troops to Iraq proves he
hasn't learned that lesson.

Have 1,000 U.S. Souls Died for Oil?
by Ivan Eland
http://www.liberty-news.com/showNewsletter.php?id=200409191
The tragic milestone of 1,000 U.S. deaths in the Iraqi quagmire
should cause introspection about why the United States really went to
war and whether it has been worth it. While the Bush administration’s
public justifications never really added up, evidence exists that there
was a hidden agenda behind the invasion of Iraq: securing oil.
http://i.am/jah/politics.htm
Saddam never had a collaborative relationship with al Qaeda. Even
if Saddam’s nuclear weapons program had made more progress than his
crude attempt at a restart-the worst case-it was known to be less
advanced than those of North Korea and Iran. As for giving expensive
nuclear, biological, or chemical weapons to unpredictable terrorist
groups: Iraq was less of a state-sponsor of terrorism than Iran or
Syria and didn?t sponsor groups that focused their attacks on the
United States. After no “weapons of mass destruction” or Iraqi links
with al Qaeda were found, the Bush administration’s fallback rationale
for war was liberating oppressed peoples and creating democracy that
would spread throughout the Middle East. Of course, this social
engineering project also could have been attempted in Syria, Iran, or
with U.S. Gulf allies, such as Saudi Arabia, albeit probably no more
successfully than in Iraq.
http://i.am/jah/democra.htm
So if the many and shifting stated justifications for the
invasion fall apart under scrutiny, the average citizen is left to
search for a legitimate secret reason for what has now become a deadly
debacle. More evidence exists to support the unspoken theory of
securing oil, than other covert motives. Some have alleged the war was
a neo-conservative plan to take out a potential enemy of Israel. There
may be some truth to this argument. But after making peace with the
most menacing Arab nation-Egypt-and purportedly possessing hundreds of
nuclear weapons, Israel is now relatively secure
from existential threats. Besides, most experts agreed that Iran was
closer to being a nuclear threat to Israel than Iraq. Syria was a
bigger conventional threat than Saddam’s regime because of its
contiguous border with the Jewish state.

"This crusade, this war on terrorism, is going to take a while. We will
rid the world of the evil-doers." - President George W. Bush, 16 Sept
The United States of America will surely prevail in the new war of our worlds -- in the short term.
http://i.am/jah/horse.htm
That is the case not because of any gods out there taking sides and not because of good or evil – metaphysical concepts both of the mismatched combatants constantly insist on invoking each within their own rich historical paradigms. The sheer military might and technological superiority of the Americans, now fully engaged in the wake of the surreal events of 11 September 2001, is simply beyond the capabilities of anyone else on the planet to successfully resist -- in the short term.
In the case of America's new war, the full might of the USA is being mobilized not against the armies of other nation states, but against the fanatical descendants of a puritanical militant Islam whose calling has become relentless opposition to American hegemony and passionate assertion of their own quaintly medieval religious constructs.
This is hardly the next war that most anticipated since the Great Wars that decimated so much of Europe and Asia in the last century. But radical as it may sound to many this is the war many in the American military-industrial establishment have been waiting to engage.

But different men often see the same subject in different lights; and, therefore I hope it will not be thought disrespectful to those gentlemen, if entertaining, as I do, opinions of a character very opposite to theirs, I shall speak forth my sentiments freely, and without reserve. This is no time for ceremony. The question before the house is one of awful moment to this country. For my own part, I consider it as nothing less than a question of freedom or slavery. And in proportion to the magnitude of the subject, ought to be the freedom of debate. It is only in this way that we can hope to arrive at truth and fulfill the great responsibility which we hold to God and our country. Should I keep back my opinions at such a time through fear of giving offense, I should consider myself guilty of treason toward my country, and of an act of disloyalty toward the majesty of Heaven when I revere above all earthly kings.

Operation Garden Plot had its origins in
the urban riots of the late 1960s. It is the name of the standing plan
for the use of U.S. military forces to control the civilan population
during emergencies and civil disturbances.
Operation Garden Plot first came to public attention in 1971, when
Senator Sam Ervin (Democrat-North Carolina), chair of the Senate
Subcommittee on Constitutional Rights, held hearings on possible Army
spying on U.S. civilians. The hearings revealed the Army had indeed
been keeping records on hundreds of thousands of American citizens
connected with antiwar and radical politics, and such activities were
part of Operation Garden Plot. The Subcommittee also found the Army had
engaged in training activities with civilian law enforcement personnel
that simulated battles with rioters and large groups of protesters.
Much of our current knowledge of Operation Garden Plot comes from a
document titled "United States Air Force Civil Disturbance Plan 55-1,
Garden Plot," obtained in 1990 by researchers under a FOIA request.
Dated July 11, 1984, the document is over 200 pages long. the opening
of Plan 55-1 noted "Although it [Plan 55-1] is unclassified, it is for
official use only as directed by AFR 12-30. This plan contains
information that is of internal use to DOD and, through disclosure,
would tend to allow persons to violate the law or hinder enforcement of
the law." It continued, "operations orders and operating procedures
must be designed to provide the highest degree of security possible"
and "in the event of organized opposition some sort of advisory
intelligence gathering capability should be assumed."
Plan 55-1 specifies the targets of Operation Garden Plot as "disruptive
elements, extremists or dissidents perpetrating civil disorder." "Civil
disorder" is defined as "riot, acts of violence, insurrections,
unlawful obstructions or assemblages, or other disorders prejudicial to
public law and order." It also defines "civil disturbance" as "all
domestic conditions requiring the use of federal forces pursuant to the
provisions of Chapter 15, Title 10, United States Code." When will
Operation Garden Plot be put into effect? When situations exist "that
threaten to reach or have reached such proportions that civil
authorities cannot or will not maintain public order." The authority
for putting it into effect will be "the Presidential Proclamation and
Executive Order in which the Secretary of Defense has been directed to
restore law and order" with additional details "further defined by the
Letter of Instruction issued to Task Force Commanders by the Chief of
Staff, US Army."
And what would federal troops do when assigned to civilian control
duties? Army Field Manual 19-15, dated November, 1985, says "when at
all possible, civil law enforcement agents are integrated with the
military control force team making apprehensions," but "if police are
not available, military personnel may search people incident to an
apprehension." Further, "authorities must be prepared to detain large
numbers of people. . . . if there are more detainees than civil
detention facilities can handle, civil authorities may ask the control
forces to set up and operate temporary facilities.. . . . . These
temporary facilities are set up on the nearest military installation or
on suitable property under federal control. . . . . supervised and
controlled by MP officers and NCOs trained and experienced in Army
correctional operations. Guards and support personnel under direct
supervision and control of MP officers and NCOs need not be trained or
experienced in Army correctional operations. But they must be
specifically instructed and closely supervised in the proper use of
force." The manual includes information on processing detainees and
says "release procedures must be coordinated with civil authorities and
appropriate legal counsel." In an echo of Lincoln's suspension of the
writ of habeas corpus during the Civil War, Field Manual 19-15 further
states that if a state court issues a writ of habeas corpus demanding a
detainee be charged or released, the local Army commander should
"respectfully reply that the prisoner is being held by authority of the
United States." Concerning training for Operation Garden Plot, the
manual says the objective is to "develop personnel who are able to
perform distasteful and dangerous duties with discipline and
objectivity. . . every member of the control force must be trained to
use his weapon and special equipment, riot batons, riot control agent
dispersers and CS grenades, grenade launchers, shotguns, sniper rifles,
cameras, portable videotape recorders, portable public address systems,
night illumination devices, firefighting apparatus, grappling hooks,
ladders, ropes, bulldozers, Army aircraft, armored personnel carriers,
and roadblock and barricade materials."
INSIDE THE SHADOW GOVERNMENT: National Security and the Cult of Secrecy
describes Operation Garden Plot in detail, including excerpts from
other military training manuals, and details military combat exercises
conducted in American cities during the late 1990s.
