WWII B-17 Bomber’s naturally forming contrails, no chemical-trails going on here

Water is a natural product of a gas engine. A bomber exhaust has roughly 1 gallon of water flowing every 17 seconds. This water may condense into a visible condensation trail. These condensation trails were detrimental to a bombing mission. They limited the follow on bombers visibility, increased Germans optical tracking capability and were used to sneak up on a bomber formations tail. They were not dispensing nefarious chemicals during their missions.
