If you are unsure if a food is healthy or not just use these criteria:
1. If you can't pronounce the ingredients, don't eat it.
2. If it wasn't here 10,000 years ago, don't eat it.
3. If it has a shelf life of more than 5 days, don't eat it.
4. If it's heavily marketed, don't eat it.
5. If it's man-made, don't eat it.

As human beings, we're the only species stupid enough to actually poison ourselves. As part of modern living, we create a wide variety of chemical toxins that go into the ecosystem through rivers and streams, the air, the soil and so on. Not only that, we actually synthesize toxic chemicals and then inject them directly into the food supply -- knowing full well that they are poisonous and are major contributors to the epidemic rates of chronic disease we are experiencing today.

1) Sodium nitrite -- causes cancer, found in most processed meats like hot dogs, bacon, sausage. Used to make meats appear red (a color fixer chemical).
2) Hydrogenated oils -- causes heart disease, nutritional deficiencies, general deterioration of cellular health, and much more. Found in cookies, crackers, margarine and many "manufactured" foods. Used to make oils stay in the food, extending shelf life. Sometimes also called "plastic fat."
3) Excitotoxins -- aspartame, monosodium glutamate and others (see below). These neurotoxic chemical additives directly harm nerve cells, over- exciting them to the point of cell death, according to Dr. Russell Blaylock. They're found in diet soda, canned soup, salad dressing, breakfast sausage and even many manufactured vegetarian foods. They're used to add flavor to over-processed, boring foods that have had the life cooked out of them.

Claims that aspartame safety proved by dietary survey reveal sweet poison front groups. Experts Speak
Desperate to reverse growing public awareness and scientific proof that the artificial sweetener aspartame is a deadly neurotoxin, the Calorie Control Council (CCC) issued a press release stating that a federal food survey proves that aspartame is safe. The move is seen by many to be a face-saving gesture by the CCC, a self-described weigh-loss advocacy group, that has been advising a calorie-conscious public to use this non-caloric, excitoneurotoxic, carcinogenic drug since the
80s. They are a Public Relations organization, well known as an aspartame front group.

The Associated Press just said a "study" by NCI, NIH and AARP gives aspartame a clean bill of health. You like fairy tales? This is from the bowels of Ally Oop, Mickey Mouse & Mother Goose. The aspartame biz is in the toilet. Europe's biggest belcher, Holland Sweetener, announced they're bailing out of this "persistently unprofitable business".

The "Sweet Misery" movie/investigation includes interviews with doctors, lawyers, people who have had health probems which they associate with aspartame usage, advocates, and many others.
"Aspartame is inherently, markedly and uniquely unstable in aqueous media"
is a quote from the congressional record in 1985, and yet it was approved for use in soft drinks and other beverages.
So what happened?
Is there credible evidence if you look beyond the smokescreen of corporate medicine? The primary research and interviews have been quite disturbing.

Chemicals are purposely added to food to change its color, preserve it, prevent rancidity, keep fats emulsified, and foods stable. Most of the chemicals are synthetic compounds, some with known negative health effects. But more importantly, we don't really know what the long-term consequences of consuming such large amounts of additives are. It is therefore best to avoid all additives, with a few

the first 11 years of being together and 9 years of marriage my wife,
Maribeth, was addicted to Diet Coke. We'd haul at
least 2 cases of Diet Coke from the grocery store every week.
Maribeth had been drinking Diet Coke like water since the drink was
first offered im the mid-1980's to the public. Not being much of a pop
drinker myself, I fell for at least 1 or 2 cans here and there during
the course of the week. After all, it was sitting there taking up an
entire shelf in our refrigerator for years.
Would you drink a cup of pesticides? What about a cup of chemical water? All
your aquarium fish will die within a matter of minutes if you add tap water
to your fish tank without also including a de-chlorinator to remove the
chlorine. Doesn't that tell you something about the danger of drinking
The manufacturers of sucralose say the chlorine in their sweetener will pass
harmlessly out of your body too. What if it doesn't? How do you know your
body won't digest it? Everyone reacts differently to individual chemicals.
Chlorine is a dangerous carcinogen, according to research on tap water.
Chlorine in tap water results in cancer and many other diseases, according
to researchers worldwide. So, if chlorine in tap water is a suspected
carcinogen, is it safe to drink in diet colas?

Your question really deals more with the potential effects of the methanol in aspartame than with aspartame itself. Aspartame is an artificial sweetener made up of two amino acids, phenylalanine and aspartic acid, and an alcohol, methanol. Aspartame is used because it's about 200 times sweeter than table sugar. Since 1 gram of aspartame (with essentially no calories) can replace 2 teaspoons of sugar (at 16 calories per teaspoon), foods made with aspartame have many fewer calories than they would if sugar was used. Unlike other food substitutes such as the artificial fat olestra, aspartame is digested by your body.

The most widely used sweetener in the world, found in fizzy drinks and sweets, is being made using a secret genetic engineering process, which some scientists claim needs further testing for toxic side-effects.
The use of genetic engineering to make aspartame has stayed secret until now because there is no modified DNA in the finished product. Monsanto, the pioneering GM food giant, which makes aspartame, insists that it is completely safe. But some scientists fear that not enough is known about the process of making it. One of the two elements that make up the sweetener can be produced by genetically engineered bacteria, and scientists say that they cannot rule out toxic side-effects.

LAWSUITS ACCUSE MANY COMPANIES OF
POISONING THE PUBLIC WITH ASPARTAME
UPDATE 21.7.2005 by 100777.com
Just received this in the mail, to which I reply that I am aware of the sad fact that many scam-artists use for instance the anti-aspartame movement or socalled "patriot-movement" for their own good... Havn't had time yet to check out Sgt. Hedrick's message which I am posting here below:
Are you truthfully truthseekers? I see that you are still promoting
likes of Rich and Roberta Bellon < www.100777.com/node/742 >. Check
my website below and read about this dynamic duo and some of their
underhanded deals. Also. do a simple internet search for "Rich
Bellon," Roberta's husband. They are scam artists, and anyone who is
associated with them shall suffer in their reputation.

SACRAMENTO -- April 6th, Lawsuits were filed in three separate
California courts against twelve companies who either produce or use
the artificial sweetener aspartame as a sugar
substitute in their products. The suits were filed in Shasta, Sonoma
and Butte County, California.
The suits allege that the food companies committed fraud and breach of
warranty by marketing products to the public such as diet Coke, diet
Pepsi, sugar free gum, Flintstone's vitamins, yogurt and children's
aspirin with the full knowledge that
aspartame, the sweetener in them, is neurotoxic.

Many doctors and researchers contend that
the industrial answer to America's sweets addiction mass producing
synthetic alternatives to sugar is causing more harm than it is helping to
combat obesity, bad teeth and diabetes.
The following is an excerpt from an
interview with Dr. Russell Blaylock, a neurosurgeon at the Medical
University of Mississippi, on Mission Impossible Radio, a program
dedicated to the eradication of aspartame as an additive in food
preparation, with hosts Jon Baum and Betty Martini. Baum's questions
appear in boldface, Martini's are in italics. And Blaylock's responses are
in regular text.

Aspartame disease has emerged as a serious disorder since the approval of aspartame as a sugar substitute two decades ago. This chemical is in thousands of "diet" products currently being consumed by over 70% of the population.
