There is nothing bad about microsoft as a company. All companies pretty much operate the same way. There are many niche markets created under the microsoft umbrella. If a company produces a product which threatens microsofts potential marketshare, it is likely to be bought out and swallowed up with new microsoft branding. This is perfectly legal. Many smaller companies set out to eventually be sold to a much larger company. This is just my opinion, because a great many people are under the impression microsoft set to become a monolopy by producing the most advanced computer operating system and software currently on the market. There are many alternatives. It is possible to have a functional modern desktop computer without any microsoft code at all.
If all else fails and you're afraid to admit to yourself you're not quite sure how to fix your computer problem, blaim microsoft, it's their fault right?
'The government of the Western nations, whether monarchical or republican, had passed into the invisible hands of a plutocracy, international in power and grasp. It was, I venture to suggest, this semi--occult power which....pushed the mass of the American people into the cauldron of World War I.'
-- British military historian Major General J.F.C. Fuller, 1941"
