Strange things can happen in the wake of a war.

In the more than two years since the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the United States, there has been an unprecedented tide of legislation and regulation against our personal liberties and freedoms, including some nullifications of privacy and personal property rights that would have Jefferson and the other framers of the Constitution rolling over in their graves. And all in the name of national security. But even scarier than that...

According to New Scientist, we've also been developing DEADLY VIRUSES.

No, this isn't an excerpt from the latest Tom Clancy or Robert Ludlum thriller. I'm talking about real scientists funded by your tax dollars whose sole goal is to produce ever-more deadly strains of pox-type viruses - ostensibly so that we can figure out ways to combat them.

Some of these viruses (among them not only the cowpox and monkey-pox you may have heard of, but also new mouse-pox and rabbit-pox varieties), are so well engineered that they have proven themselves to be 100% lethal - even among subjects who have been vaccinated and fortified with antiviral drugs.

They are the tiny and potentially lethal guests that have taken up permanent residence inside the body of almost every adult Briton.

A toxic cocktail of 27 chemicals is circulating in the bloodstream of the average person, a disturbing new scientific study has proved.

The by-products of modern living - including PCBs, pesticides and even flame retardants required by law - are endlessly circulating in the bloodstream, where they are suspected of triggering a number of diseases including cancer.

One of the most worrying aspects of the research is that some of the contaminants lurking inside our bodies were banned by law more than 30 years ago.

Scientists tested more than 150 volunteers aged between 22 and 80 for traces of 77 chemicals that pollute the environment. Volunteers included Holyrood MSPs Sarah Boyack and Christine Grahame, as well as one leading European politician.

The survey found the people they studied had between nine and 49 of the substances - routinely sprayed on crops, added to products such as paints, and used to protect furniture against fire - in their bodies.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A panel of outside experts told the CIA that advances in technology due to genomic research could produce the worst known diseases and the "most frightening" biological weapons, a CIA report said on Friday.

"The effects of some of these engineered biological agents could be worse than any disease known to man," the panel told the CIA.

The unclassified two-page CIA report dated Nov. 3, 2003, and titled "The Darker Bioweapons Future," was posted on the Federation of American Scientists Web site at http:/www.fas.org/irp/cia/product/bw1103.pdf.

It summed up a January workshop of a panel of non-government science experts who discussed with the CIA the potential threat from new biological weapons.

Growth in biotechnology and a knowledge explosion due to the genomic revolution which provided an understanding of genes and how they work could be used in unpredictable ways, the panel warned.

"The same science that may cure some of our worst diseases could be used to create the world's most frightening weapons," the report said.

In the next decade or beyond, some of the unconventional pathogens that could arise included binary biological warfare agents that only become effective when two components are combined, such as a mild pathogen and its antidote, the panel of experts said.

There could be development of "designer" biological warfare agents created to be antibiotic-resistant or evade an immune response, weaponized gene therapy vectors that cause permanent change in the victim's genetic makeup, or a "stealth" virus which could lie dormant inside the victim for an extended period before being triggered, the report said.

STEALTH VIRUS ATTACK

One panelist gave as an example the possibility of a stealth virus attack that could cripple a large portion of people in their forties with severe arthritis, leaving a country with massive health and economic problems.

"The resulting diversity of new BW (biological warfare) agents could enable such a broad range of attack scenarios that it would be virtually impossible to anticipate and defend against," the report said. "As a result, there could be a considerable lag time in developing effective biodefense measures."

Traditional intelligence methods for monitoring development of weapons of mass destruction "could prove inadequate" in dealing with the threat from advanced biological weapons, the report said.

Detecting the development of novel bioengineered pathogens will increasingly depend on human intelligence and require a closer working relationship between the intelligence and biological sciences community, the report said.

One panelist proposed that the bioscience community help government by acting as a "living sensor web" at international conferences, in university labs and through informal networks, to identify and alert about new technical advances with weaponization potential, the report said.

"The quality of intelligence can only improve from the rough and tumble of peer review and outside input," said Steven Aftergood, director of the government secrecy project at the Federation of American Scientists.

"In the past, CIA has been completely insular, they have been unwilling to engage with outside experts," he said, "and so this is a welcome departure from that norm."

The poll of 46,000 people across 16 countries found that 19 percent of adults, many aged under 50, were in constant pain, suffering for years without adequate pain relief.

A third of those questioned reported being in pain every minute of their lives and one fifth said they had been in pain for 20 years or more.

Pain management experts say not enough is being done to tackle chronic pain and the isolation it causes.

"Doctors and politicians need to listen to what patients are saying," Dr Beverly Collett, president of the Pain Society, said in a statement.

"Recent research in secondary care pain services has clearly demonstrated that pain in under managed and variably resourced."

The highest prevalence of chronic pain was in Norway where the number of people affected was around a third, or 30 percent, of those questioned. The lowest was in Spain at 11 percent.

Virtually everyone uses aluminum pots and pans, and aluminum filled deodorant. Because its cheap.

Interesting link. No maybes. The Aluminum did it. Period.

Makes one wonder about other common, "harmless", "trace metals". Not to mention phosex and all the other farming poisons, insecticides, whatnot. And to think I once scoffed at the old Romans for not suspecting that all that lead could poison them into even earlier, even nastier, graves.

In the 1970s, there were outbreaks of encephalopathy (dementia) and bone disease (osteomalacia) in various dialysis units. This was often called "dialysis dementia". The key researchers into this were David Kerr in Newcastle and Alan Alfrey in the USA. Alfrey and colleagues associated the encephalopathy in dialysis patients with aluminium toxicity (Alfrey et al, 1976). Studies were done and a geographical variation of toxicity was found, and it was associated with aluminium in that water supply.

This would make them our "absolute masters." On this same page, they admit that they operate a confidence game and that the history of banking is a history of fraud. It does not matter what they admit if less than one per cent read it and those who recite it are ridiculed. At one time, at least six states prohibited banking in their constitutions! This was researched by attorney, Larry Becraft, of Huntsville, Alabama.

Nobel Laureate, Paul Samuelson, in Economics Fourth Edition described the Federal Reserve as an "Omnipotent, benevolent counterfeiter". What would those counterfeiting thieves not do or persuade us to do to regulate our consumption and insure the permanence of their omnipotence? Who benefits from their counterfeit?

Britain faces a public health emergency caused by the failure of ministers over many years to confront the issue of sexual disease, MPs say today.

The cross-party Commons health committee says in a report that it is "appalled by the crisis in sexual health".

Its MPs say: "We do not use the word 'crisis' lightly but in this case it is appropriate."

Blaming lack of political will, failure by NHS bodies to recognise the scale of the problem and lack of money to deal with it, MPs say sexual health must be treated as a priority.

"All the "pleasant" effects these drugs provoke are; in essence; things that CANNOT be found in the world or system we live in today..."
