It may be thought (by supporters of this campaign) to be worth while to list specific examples of the Hollyork abuse of English language; such examples to be avoided and condemned.
One example is the growing unnecessary use of Hollyork words (such as "schmooze") in the UK periodical "The Economist": words which have been taken from a discredited corruption of the German language (a corruption which did not even originally use the German/Roman alphabet).
Another abuse is the uncouth total abandonment of the common English terms, "as if" and "as though", by ungrammatically substituting them with the word "like".
